Preparing Your Tapes

Sort & Label

  • Arrange tapes chronologically if possible.

  • Label tapes using sticky notes or masking tape.

  • If you have a preferred order, let us know; otherwise, we’ll process them as received.

Packing Tips

  • Bubble wrap your tapes for safe transit.

  • Use a sturdy box to prevent damage.

Weight Estimates:

  • 8mm Tape (in case): ~4 oz each

  • VHS Tape (in case): ~10 oz each

  • Example: 4 tapes ≈ 1.5 lbs | 10 tapes ≈ 4 lbs | 25 tapes ≈ 10 lbs

  • Pirate Ship: Free account + discounted shipping (often half the cost of UPS or USPS).

  • Arrival Notification: We’ll email you once your tapes arrive. Keep your tracking number handy.

  • Processing Time: 4–8 weeks depending on order size. We’ll keep you updated.

  • Final Invoice & Payment: After payment, digital files will be available within 24 hours.

  • Digital Access: Files are stored in our Cloud for 90 days. Instructions for access will be provided.

  • Cloud Storage Option: Need more time? Enroll in the Vidley Vault. Send us an email to inquire. 

  • Return Shipment: You’ll receive a shipping notification with tracking. Billed at cost in final invoice.
